JD Wooten is an intellectual property attorney and former U.S. Air Force officer and engineer. While on active duty, JD first served as an engineer and program manager for the Situation Awareness Data Link, an air to ground radio system used extensively in close air support and homeland defense missions. He later served as the Commander's Action Officer to Lt. Gen. CR Davis, managing all communications on behalf of General Davis for his +9,000 person, $5 billion per year organization operating from 28 international locations.

After a decade of service, JD left active duty to attend Wake Forest University School of Law. Upon graduation, JD joined the intellectual property group at Womble Bond Dickinson where he helps clients secure and protect their creative rights through patents, trademarks, and copyrights. JD's family has called North Carolina home for over twenty generations, and they are proud to still call North Carolina home today.

In the state legislature, JD will prioritize public education, access to affordable healthcare, equality, responsible economic development, and independent redistricting.
